Partner Spotlight: Citizens Committee for NYC

The Citizens Committee for New York City was a pioneer of the concept of mini grants to further neighborhood pride and growth. We are proud of our partnership with Citizens Committee which culminated the Reisenbach Safe Neighborhood Awards. Microgrants awarded through this program support resident led groups of New Yorkers from all over the city who are contributing to critical local safety improvements.

Last summer, the Bronx Park East Community Association won a Reisenbach Safe Neighborhood Safety Award by organizing a two month-long summer program to educate youth and engage them in productive activities. The interactive workshops’ topics included anti-violence, public safety, health, fitness, and art. Local youth also came together to design and paint a mural to beautify their neighborhood and deter graffiti. (1)

The John A. Reisenbach Foundation has worked “For a Better and Safer New York” since 1991. Through grants and strategic partnerships, we address systemic problems like unequal access to education and job training that keep individuals vulnerable and that contribute to poverty and crime. We strive every day to support safety, security, and a high quality of life for all New Yorkers.
