What does “Summer in a Safe City” mean to you?
Summer in a Safe City means not having to worry about my city or anyone in it. Manhattan is always quieter in the summers, which means it’s even more enjoyable than usual — it’s about having fun while feeling safe and secure in my home.
How do New Yorkers benefit from having a safe summer?
Everyone deserves a carefree summer. We live in such a beautiful, outstanding place and we should be able to enjoy it without repercussions. Summer means that school is out, there are visitors all around, and the city thrives with that kind of attention. It’s important to keep NYC safe for everyone coming to the area and looking to have fun.
When you think of summer time in NYC what stands out to you?
I love the peacefulness of the city on summer mornings. Being in Central Park, surrounded by nature, reminds me that we are so lucky to have this city.
Which of the Reisenbach programs is your favorite and why?
I personally love the Neighborhoods program, because I love the focus on a ground-up approach. It’s intended to be a grassroots initiative, and I hope that it continues to operate in that way regardless of how much JAR grows. I think it really takes into consideration how important a community is to those who live in it, and helps people to improve what’s closest to home for them.
Why did you get involved with JAR and what stands out to you the most about us?
Originally, I joined JAR because an individual that I greatly respected and trusted within my industry was involved, and so I knew that it was a trustworthy and generous group of individuals. The mission of JAR has really resonated with me — I grew up in New York, and have always considered New York City to be “my city” and the place that I call home. In order to give back to this amazing place that has given so much to me, I joined JAR and hope to better New York City each and every day.
