The Point Community Development Corporation (CDC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to youth development and the cultural and economic revitalization of the Hunts Point section of the South Bronx, where nearly half of the population lives below the poverty line.
JAR supports The Point through Camp PowerPOINT. Camp PowerPOINT is a comprehensive summer camp program in which youth participate in a combination of required activities and chosen electives in the areas of leadership development, arts-in-education, environmental education and social skills building. In Hunts Point (South Bronx), Camp PowerPOINT runs from early July to mid August, and caters to 65 young people ages 14-21 via the NYC Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP). This camp is highly impactful, as for most youth participants, it serves as their first and/or only formal work experience ever.
