Win serves nearly 10,000 homeless women and their children each year. Win is the largest provider of shelter and services for homeless families in NYC. They work to break the cycle of homelessness, with programs like Win Academy, Income Building Program, Children’s Afterschool, Mentorship and Recreation. With the support of JAR, WIN successfully rolled out a pilot Young Adult Income Building Program (YAIBP), which surpassed its goal of targeting 170 young adults, aged 16 – 22 years old, by serving a total of 179 participants. These young adults represent nearly two-thirds (65%) of all young adults ages 16 – 22 years old that resided in a homeless shelter during FY 2017.
Win’s Young Adult Income Building Program is an extension of the Income Building Program, helping thousands of homeless clients gain and maintain employment each year. Both programs create feasible short-term goals that establish lasting financial readiness. The YAIB Program places additional focus on balancing work and school to lay a foundation for stable employment and a secure financial future for Win’s young adult clients. Learn more at winnyc.org.
