Erica Gruen

Erica is the Founder/President of Erica Gruen Consulting and a Principal with Quantum Media Associates, pioneering digital transformation for the world’s largest entertainment/media companies to generate profit, reduce expense, and adapt to change. As Senior Advisor to Oaklins, the world’s largest mid-market M+A advisory, she also advises, mentors, and invests in early-stage technology companies in food, advertising, marketing, education, and clean energy.

Immediately prior, Erica was president/CEO of Food Network, masterminding one of television’s biggest brands and the #1 food website. Working with one of the smallest programming budgets in the TV industry, and no consumer marketing budget, she took Food Network from a tiny start-up to a huge hit, making Food Network the only basic cable network in history to achieve profitability on advertising revenue alone. In 1998, she successfully completed the sale of the network to E.W. Scripps.

Before Food, as VP/SVP at Saatchi & Saatchi Advertising, Erica was a disruptive innovation pioneer and tech evangelist for the world’s #1 ad agency, serving Fortune 100 advertisers in a variety of sectors. She launched one of the world’s first digital ad agencies (Saatchi & Saatchi Interactive), and created Saatchi’s branded entertainment/content marketing group, producing Emmy Award-winning TV series for Procter & Gamble, General Mills, Toyota, and many others.

Erica is also a professor at NYU Stern, teaching the business of media and entertainment to the next generation of leaders, and has held many leadership positions on non-profit boards for over 20 years, including at the James Beard Foundation, the Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center, and Theaterworks USA.
