The John A. Reisenbach Foundation Becomes Reisenbach Philanthropies

The rebrand better reflects the organization’s work as a nonprofit incubator and venture philanthropy

approach with a focus on New York City.

NEW YORK, August 3, 2023 -- The John A. Reisenbach Foundation, a nonprofit organization that focuses on creating a better and safer New York, announced its name change to Reisenbach Philanthropies and introduced a new website, visual identity, and refreshed positioning to signal a fresh vision and continued organizational growth.

The extensive rebranding reflects the foundation’s creation of new programs such as Amplify Your Impact – a one-year package of media consultations, workshops, and connections – and Accelerate Your Impact that seeds high-potential pilot programs within successful nonprofits to address underserved needs. The new name better symbolizes its support for nonprofits in the five boroughs.

“Our new name will connect our intricate programming with the impact that we’re having on the lives of tens of thousands of New Yorkers,” says Naomi Ryan, President of Reisenbach Philanthropies. “Reisenbach Philanthropies couples the passion to make a difference with the network that knows how to do it—all to build a better city, block by block.”

The foundation, a nonprofit incubator and venture philanthropy focused on New York City, was organized in 1991 by friends, family, and colleagues of the late John Reisenbach, a 33-year-old advertising sales executive who was the victim of a random and senseless murder the previous year in Greenwich Village.Working “for a better and safer New York” since then, it has grown substantially and now aims to touch the hearts of all New Yorkers to capture the city’s imagination, optimism, and generous spirit.

“We amplify frontline solutions for tackling the city’s most intractable problems,” says Board Chair Allison Arden. “This rebrand will help raise awareness of the wonderful work that our grantees are doing for youth and education, housing and community, and justice and safety.” For more information about Reisenbach grantmaking, visit https://www.reisenbachphilanthropies.org/grantmaking.
